Simply put: Being a follower of Jesus means following Jesus. Jesus did say follow
me didn’t he? If our discipleship is not leading us to give away our lives
to other people, at great personal cost, then we are not following Jesus.
There is a fundamental call to followers of Jesus to be involved in gererous
compassion to the poor and the broken and the underpriviledged. There’s
more in the ancient manuscripts about justice and compassion than
evangelism.
